Is Soylent the answer to a sustainable diet?

So I came across this video today - a short documentary on a new product called Soylent and how it allowed one man to live without food for 30 days. The video pretty much sums up all its positives and negatives so I will let that do the talking.



In my opinion, maybe this does have a place in our diets. While I love my food and would never want to stop eating it, the implications this has for environmental benefits and perhaps even a cure for global starvation are pretty great. I'd be quite happy to skip a few meals for one of these and then just go all out on the food when I do have it - or maybe just eat on holiday for those great local cuisines!
